I came across this video that offers so much hope!  It is definitely worth the 5 or 6 minutes it takes to watch it.  I completely related to Dr. Pompa as he briefly shared his experiences.  I love that he is sharing how he was able to get well, and what he does to help his patients recover.  A definite “must-see”!

One thing I had never heard before in this video struck me.  He said that car accidents can cause a form of  stimulation in our NMDA receptors that can contribute to developing MCS/TILT/Fibromyalgia/CF.   He points to the part of his neck where we receive whiplash.  It struck me because was in a car accident just prior to many of my sensitivities developing.  Very interesting!

The Earth Day potluck dinner which helped raise money for Harvest for Humanity was quite a success!  So many wonderful people brought delicious organic food to sample.  Fantastic companies like Navitas Naturals, Justin’s, Maggie’s and True Food Kitchen (and the list goes on!) donated great items for the silent auction, and for the goodie bags.  From what I heard the event raised quite a bit of money!

On a personal note, I found the people at the potluck to be so intelligent with great hearts and great recipes!  You will definitely find me there again next year, if there isn’t another event before then!

Come out this Thursday, April 21, 2011 for an Earth Day Potluck and Fundraiser for Harvest for Humanity.  Harvest for Humanity is a non-profit organization that grows ORGANIC food on empty plots of land, and then donates that food to low income families, while offering the opportunity to learn how to grow food organically!

Come on out for a fantastic evening.  There will be live music, speakers (myself included!), a silent auction (where you may bid on organic perfumes, organic coffee, creations by fair trade designers, and many more great items!) and giveaways.  Even if you do not bid on an item, you may leave with a goodie bag including Justin’s Nut Butter, coupons for FREE organic milk, organic cereal, and much more.

Please bring an organic dish to share, and bring a story about your dish with you, ie  where you purchased the ingredients.

More details about the night, and time and location can be found at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Harvest-For-Humanity-Foundation/206496887312

I hope to see you there!

Thank you for the many compliments on my logo and business card!  This was all made possible by an extremely talented designer named Daniel Sirak of Jolt Studios.  I am repeatedly asked for his contact info, so here it for you!

When working with Dan I was absolutely stunned at how quickly he was able to get a feel for what I am looking for in a logo.  He was fun and easy to work with, which was so pleasant after having spent way too much time trying to get my ideas put into an image with other designers.

Dan truly has a talent.  So if you are looking for some graphics work, I highly, highly recommend that you contact Dan at Jolt Studios!

I just came across this article. I like how it is easy to read, and has legal information regarding the fact and fiction surrounding MCS.

I am so thankful that there are studies, doctors, and people who share this information to help us get well.  Thanks to the Healthy Housing Coalition for putting this together!

I recently saw these rolling herb gardens outside of True Food Kitchen Biltmore.

These containers grow so much food in such a small space, and are so cute that that I really, really wanted to share!  What a great idea, coming to us from Jon L. Wilson, LEED AP.

What can the purple waffle plant, English ivy, asparagus fern, purple heart plant, variegated wax plant do in your home or work space?  According to an article published March 15, 2011 by the Wall Street Journal, these super ornamentals can remove VOCs such as benzene (think cigarette smoke) and toulene (think paint, etc.) from the air!

Please read this article.  It is fantastic and well worth your time.

In the last 5 years I have gained so much knowledge through my own experience.  I remember what it was like a few years ago when I first had to change my diet due to food allergies.  It was very time consuming and overwhelming…who knew there were 50 names for sugar?!

If you are at a place in your life where you would like or need to make a dietary shift, it would be my pleasure to accompany you to the store and act as your mentor and cheerleader!  It can be a very, very challenging thing when first starting out!   But when you accomplish your goal, you will find the effort more rewarding than it ever was challenging!

My goal is to:

*Teach you how to read labels to avoid hidden ingredients that will undermine your diet and make you ill!

*Educate you on which stores have better pricing on which products!

*Let you know which days and times are the busiest and the least busy for the grocery store of your choice!

*Fill you in on suitable recipe accommodations and ingredient substitutes!

*How to enjoy eating without feeling deprived!

*Help you stay on course and achieve your health goals!

Prior to our shopping excursion, plan on chatting on the phone to get to know each other a little bit, and for me to better understand what your goals are.  Plan on selecting a store near your house or one that you drive by often and will be able to shop at frequently.  We will go to the store of your choice, to make your transition as easy and functional for your life as possible.  Plan on spending approximately an hour and 15 minutes shopping on the first outing.  Our first time at the store will cover enough that you will be empowered to shop effectively for yourself, however, if after this first shopping experience you would like to spend more time together, we can talk about those options as well!

The cost is $50 for the original trip to the grocery store.  This includes the original phone call, store of your choice, mentorship, recipes, and a new outlook on food and shopping!

I am very excited to meet you, and very excited to be a part of your journey towards better health!

To schedule your shopping excursion, please send an email to me personally at Melinda@MelindaDunn.com OR call me at 480.652.3456

Payment is accepted via cash or check.  Gift certificates are also available.

Below you will find some of the books that I have read starting about the Winter of 2007/2008.  These books below pertain mostly to the Nutritional/Chemical aspect of Healing.  If you pick any of these up, you are sure to learn something that can help you, too :)  The order that I have listed them is the order in which I found them and read them.

If you have a book that you think I would benefit from reading, please drop me a line and suggest it to me!

It happened.  Again.  Today.

I was, again, brought to my knees in tears.  Sobbing like a 31 year old baby.

I’ve had this burden hanging over my head for a while in regards to my car.  I like to think of it as my “Hot Rod”, while others call it the “Mom car” (for the record, I have no children).  But whatever you call it, my Honda Accord was in need of some attention.  I’d been putting off taking my car in for quite some time.  People were telling me “It’s your alignment” and “It’s your brakes” and “It’s your power steering”…all sounded kind of expensive to me.   And I just simply don’t have a way to pay for it.

Tuesday morning I broke down Read More…
